The Huntingdon Regional Ballet  (HRB),
is proud to be a member of the northeast region of Regional Dance America since 2023.

Regional Dance America, RDA, is a 501(c)3 nonprofit whose mission is to empower pre-professional dance in communities across America through education, scholarship, connection, and performance opportunities.

In April 2024, eight talented HRB dancers were honored to represent our company at the prestigious RDA National Festival in Daytona, Florida.

RDA Experience

The Regional Dance America National Festival was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I am so honored to say I was part of it. Last spring, I traveled along with the Huntingdon Regional Ballet to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and attended the Northeast Regional Festival which included only studios from the northeast region. That alone was an awesome experience. Being able to participate nationally at Daytona Beach, Florida with studios from all 50 states this year was an unforgettable time considering it only happens every seven years! I think that RDA is a great opportunity for children interested in a professional career in dance to attend. It showcases how to act in auditions, allows kids to work with dance phenomenon from around the world, and gives them a small taste of what life could be like after high school. You get to perform a dance that is put together from your own studio to entertain and inspire all of the other dancers there. With that being said, the atmosphere there is just electric. Everyone is so excited to meet new people, attain brand new knowledge, and see what other states and studios have to offer. I think it is beautiful to see that so many young people can come together for something of that magnitude to better themselves at a young age. All week, we had the opportunity of taking classes with a very classical level of training. Even though it is a ballet-based program, participating in RDA means there will also be versatility in the styles and classes you take as they are trying to prepare you for all aspects of dance. I personally think that our modern class was the most difficult. At Huntingdon Regional Ballet, we train a lot in the modern technique, but there are so many different styles of it we can’t know them all. As a studio, we were really pushed during that class, and we had to step out of our comfort zone a bit. Even though it was something new and different than what we were used to, it was still so fun and we were able to take new knowledge home! Overall, I am so thankful for this experience and I will never forget my time at the Regional Dance America National Festival. - M. Byler
