Valerie Long began her dance training in Uniontown, PA at the Katy Lyon Dance Center. As a “competition kid,” she competed both regionally and nationally. Valerie went on to Point Park University where she earned her B.A. in dance from their Conservatory of Performing Arts.
Upon graduation, Valerie joined Dance Alloy, a small modern dance company as an apprentice and understudy based in Pittsburgh, PA. In addition to her time with the Dance Alloy, she performed throughout the Pittsburgh area at such venues as the Cabaret Theater and the Gateway Clipper.
Valerie’s teaching experience ranges from young children through adults; teaching at Point Park University for their community class series; Urban Impact, a small not for profit organization on the North Side of Pittsburgh; and local dance studios in the greater Pittsburgh area.
Valerie went on to graduate school at Carnegie Mellon University earning her Master’s Degree in Arts Management in 2009.
